The proposed electric vehicle prototype is equipped with four solar panels installed on top of the system. In vehicle conversion, engine-related parts are replaced with electrical equipment. The battery pack can be charged from the solar panel and grid AC power. The prototype contains a motor, battery, solar panel, and control system.
Therefore, the contribution of this paper is a detailed conversion of petrol-powered three-wheelers to solar-assisted electric three-wheelers practically undertaken and a clear dynamic performance analysis of the solar-assisted prototype has been performed for each performance parameter.
This paper presented the development of an electric vehicle with an onboard solar charging system converted from an Indian-made auto-rickshaw or three-wheeler bajaj. The developed vehicle prototype has a differential gearbox and mechanical reverse system converted from an existing old bajaj with the chain-sprocket mechanism.
