Algeria Energy Storage Wind Power
During a speech at the 2nd international workshop on renewable energy in Algiers, Algerian Ministry of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Noureddine Yassaa, highlighted that Algeria is working to integrate wind energy into its future renewable energy projects, adding that “in collaboration with the World Bank, we are currently studying the launch of a 1,000-megawatt wind power project across 10 promising sites.” [pdf]
Energy storage projects already in operation in South America
Sunny Power signed a 650MW PV project in Brazil in 2022, and also signed a 500MW distribution agreement with Brazil's SOL+Distribuidora last year.On January 12, BYD and Spain's Grenergy reached a procurement agreement for a 1.1GWh energy storage system for the world's largest energy storage project, the 4.1GWh energy storage project in Chile's Atacama Oasis, supplying it with 2,136 Magic Cubes. These include the signing and landing of the 20 GWh sodium-ion battery project in Suining, Sichuan; the Jinlongyu solid-state battery materials project in Huizhou entering the approval stage; the rapid construction of the 4 GWh lithium battery project by Hubei Yijia Tong Technology Co., Ltd. in Hubei; and the steady advancement of Gaiya New Energy’s 3 GWh large cylindrical lithium (sodium) battery base in Zhejiang.
